Career story: Diversity motivates in Key Account Manager's work

Reino Syrjä works as Key Account Manager in SKS Group and is responsible for managing and developing appointed key accounts. Reino started in his current position in June 2021. Before that he worked as Key Account Manager in SKS Mekaniikka.

Reino got acquinted with SKS already when he was studying Automation Engineering. SKS Mekaniikka's materials were used in the studies.

”I got to know SKS in university and I decided to apply for a summer job at SKS Mekaniikka. I got the job. In summer 1998 I worked in our assembly team, assembling THK linear guides", Reino tells.

Summer job led to a permanent work in SKS Mekaniikka's technical sales and later to Key Account Manager's position. Reino has also worked as an entrepreneur in a machine shop company.

”I like the 'let's do this' spirit that we have. Good team spirit gives you a lot of energy. Also tools for work are good. I am very interested in the opportunities digitalisation brings and new ways of working. I think there's a lot going on in the industry and learning curve is steep", Reino says.

Reino describes SKS as a company with a wide selection of products and customers. Reino is motivated by the diversity of the work, appropiate level of freedom and possibility to develop. Reino tells that he works with long-term perspective and feels successful when he can bring real value to customer's business. He aims to develop a partnership that grows and evolves when customer's business grows and changes.

"I consider problem solving skills as my strength and I get to use those skills in customer work. I familiarise myself constantly with new things when I work with customers from different industries", Reino tells.

Reino has educated himself in different sales courses during the years. Currently, he has the possibility to challenge himself in a new role that requires knowledge of a larger product and customer group. Reino thinks that Key Account Manager's role requires capability to manage large entities and also accuracy when you are dealing with order-delivery processes.

”It is great to be part of a team which aims high together. I find our work community supportive and I want to thank all of my colleagues for good cooperation", Reino ends.
